What’s new on the Freezone

Shark Island Challenge

With May behind us we can look back on what was a huge month for Freezone. We had a number of live streams – from the final of TopGeek 2.0 right through to launch of Kitty Cam. What started out as a temporary webcam for iiNet’s FedEx Day has turned into a raging success, one we’re proud to host on Freezone. May also saw the launch of the Freezone app for fetchtv subscribers, meaning you can bring the wonders of Freezone straight to your home television.

With June upon us, it’s time we had a look at some of the awesome events coming to screens near you:

WAMi Awards – June 2

We wrap up our fantastic WAMi Festival coverage with the WA music scene’s night of nights – the 2012 WAMi Awards Night. We’ll be live streaming the night in Freezone, so be sure to log on to follow all the action. You’ll be able to catch performances from bands such as Eskimo Joe, John Butler & Mama Kin and much more.

Verbitsky’s 25th Anniversary Gala – June 23

If you like your music a little more classical then you won’t want to miss our live stream of the Verbitsky 25th Anniversary Gala performed by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Vladimir Verbistky’s first appearance with WASO – it’s bound to be a night of wonderful Russian music direct from the wonderful surrounds of the Perth Concert Hall.

Australian Boomers vs China – June 9-13

Even though the NBL’s between seasons, it doesn’t mean the hoops action stops. Freezone is proud to bring you live streams of the YouYi (“Friendship”) Games as Australia and China vie for basketball dominance and bragging rights ahead of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Sit back and enjoy all the action on June 9 and 13.

IBA Shark Island Challenge – from June 20

The world’s best bodyboarders descend on Shark Island for the IBA Shark Island Challenge and Freezone will be right there for every wave. We’ve got plenty of Freezone content leading up to the big event, so be sure to check out all the action.

accessreel.com presents Supanova – June 22

What happens when pop culture fanatics descend on the one location for three days of celebrity sightings and cosplay madness? You get the 10th anniversary of Supanova, Australia’s leading pop culture expo – and Freezone will be there for all the fun and fantasy.

  1. how about a competition or reduced priced tickets for classical w.a. symphony orch. concerts for us oldies. Tickets are a luxury in the present economic climate. would be most appreciative.DM

How about allowing Spotify on Freezone?

    • Adam O'grady says:

While this is a cool idea, it might not be possible to implement. Spotify is unusual in that it utilises peer-to-peer traffic to get a lot of the information about upcoming tracks, which can’t be made Freezone like normal traffic between a client and a single server.

      Cheers,
      Adam

Spot on Peter. Not everyone who reads the newsletter is an Gen X or Y or what ever. However, Movie & concert passes are of no use to many of us in regional WA. How about something we can actually use as prizes? A months access, a viop hand set, downloads and the like would be nice.
