We are always looking for new things to put out to our customers quota free (check out our Freezone offerings), but there are some other sites out there doing cool things for our content-hungry population. As the resident internet nerd, I think now is the time to share my secret download link collection with our followers.
If you’re after music, you can’t go past the iiNet iTunes Store (especially if you’re a customer) because you can shop for music and it will be completely unmetered. Bandcamp Artists is a great place to find tracks and albums straight from the people who make them. Bandit.fm allows you to get your hands on high-quality mp3s from major labels and the indie underground. Lastly there is emusic.com which gives you access to music from every genre.
Gamers who haven’t clued on yet should hit up Steam – a place where you can download unmetered from our 3FL servers. On top of that we have iiNet GamersHell Mirror, where you can get ‘Freezoned’ gaming demos to try out before you commit to buying. Also, head to Liberated Games where you can get free, legal games for download – nothing beats that.
Movie and TV buffs can also make good use of the iiNet iTunes Store with movies, TV episodes, short films and heaps of our own stuff to download. ABC iView streams this week’s ABC TV programming free and ‘Freezoned’ or else if you head to Channel Ten Video you can watch full episodes of Channel Ten TV programming for free. CinemaNow gives you access to downloadable movies for purchase or rent. If you’re into something a bit more alternative, The Auteurs provides you with rare cinematic treats, arthouse or films with class.
For your software you can find drivers, utilities, productivity tools, webware and more that’s cheap or free of charge. CNET Downloads is the most comprehensive source of free and free-to-try software. Giveaway of the Day is a site that gives you fully licensed software with a new giveaway every day. Apple Downloads also gives you easy access to a variety of Mac OS Xapps.
The best digital media libraries in my opinion are Internet Archive – find moving images, concert recordings, audiobooks, texts and more – and Project Gutenberg – get your hands on free eBooks from around the world. Also, my latest find, Google Books. The best thing about these library archives is that they house copyright-free, copyright-expired, electronic licensed and out of print materials. An absolute goldmine if you like that sort of thing.
Apart from all of that, there’s nothing wrong with getting into some legal torrents. Sure they have a bad reputation, but torrents are simply a way of transmitting files across the net. You can get a guilt-free fix of entertainment from LegalTorrents.com which provides you with access to high-quality, open-license film, music and digital media. Happy downloading!
Two words.. but all in one, YouTube
Freezone is applicable for netspace customers too, right?
