Giving back to the community: sharing our passion, pocket change & more

Giving back to the community: sharing passion, pocket change & moreWe’ve wrapped up our ‘Charitometer’ count for 2011; and it looks like we’ve smashed our 2010 effort of $36,360.

Thanks to the generosity of staff from across the business, iiNet donated over $48,000 in spare change (and notes) towards a range of community causes in 2011.

Over the year our donations helped Autism West fund its Youth Engaging Successfully program. We’ve supported men’s health issues through Movember, planted 4100 new trees with Carbon Conscious, helped improve the quality of life of those affected by leukaemia through The World’s Greatest Shave, assisted the Australian Red Cross and their relief efforts, enabled Lifeline to train a new telephone councillor and much more. Read about our staff charity stories from the blog.

In the year ahead, we’ve got plans to do even more to support the communities where we operate. Earlier this week, we launched our new Learn with iiNet workshops, inviting discoverers of all ages to pop in and, well… learn with iiNet. Right now the workshops are only available at our Subiaco head office, but stick with us – we’ll look at expanding this outside of sunny Perth, plus share more online learning tools… stay tuned.

If you’d like to learn more about what we’re doing in the community, you can read through our 2011 Sustainability Report. Otherwise send an email our way –
