The national rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) is coming along steadily in Wollongong. Before too long, customers throughout the area will be able to take advantage of the tremendous capabilities of the NBN. This includes, but is not limited to, faster internet speeds and increased reliability that will benefit businesses and households alike.

Good things come to those who wait, but luckily for most of the people in the Wollongong area, they won’t have to wait too much longer. Many areas are already enjoying the benefits of the NBN network, while others are in the process of getting the infrastructure built so the network can reach its users.

Wollongong Rollout Updates

NBN coverage in Wollongong is already strong in the southern part of the region. The NBN coverage map of Wollongong shows that areas around Dunmore, Shell Cove and Blackbutt are already utilising the fruits of the network. That presence is starting to spread, providing a greater number of Wollongong residents access to the NBN’s increased speeds.

Areas to the east of Lake Illawarra, including Koonawarra, Kanahooka and Dapto, already have NBN capabilities, and the NBN rollout is now making its way east and north. To the east, new build sites are being prepared and are nearing completion. Places such as Vista Park and Haywards Bay will be some of the next spots to connect to the network, and areas around Mount St. Thomas and Coniston are joining the party as well. Further north, Corrimal and Russell Vale are also working toward connectivity.

What is the deal with cordless handsets not being allowed on NBN? Something of a retrograde step? Where is the NBN compliant technology that isn’t techno-ancient?

Thanks Amy, that is good news, for the future when my area finally gets connected anticipated within 18 months… My comment was based on info from NBN Co themselves…that powered cordless handsets were not suitable for NBN. Strange.
