UPDATE 2 – We have a winner! 3 in fact…
Natasha Shan, who won us over with this great meme entry featuring her cat:
Tim Phillips, who crafted this witty poem capturing everything he loves about iiNet’s Utlimate Showbag:
What I love most
About iiNet’s Ultimate Showbag
Is the array of delights,
And entertainment filled nights
Does my heart desire a sleek PS3,
Or a shiny new Samsung Galaxy?
Although, reading The Avengers and X-Men is preferred
By those like myself – a proud, noble nerd
A family evening of magic
And Connect 4 may seem tragic
But would be truly completed
With the Bertie Beetles – depleted!
Free tickets to a concert
For a musician’s more than nice,
But what I await most
Is the surprise iiNet merchandise!
Jasmine Nelson, who gave the judges a giggle with this clever play on words:
I-ndulge in some luxuries
I-t’s filled with comics, tickets, lollies
N-ow my life feels complete
E-specially with nice treats
T-hank you for the ultimate goodies
Thank you again to everyone who entered. We were blown away by the high volume of great entries and it was a tough job choosing just three deserving winners.
Stay tuned for more fun competitions, coming soon!
My dream retro toy prize would be a Virtual Boy! I’ve played one before very briefly and it was something else.
As for gadgets, night-vision contact lenses* for me please.
*May require inventing
A Nikon D800 with an 18-399 mm lens
Suprised nobody has mentioned the almighty Tamagotchi!
An uncomplicated coffee making machine, I had to divorced the last one!
An excellent retro toy prize would be a *complete* set of Matchbox Diecast Toy Cars! Really Retro, not the plastic stuff! They can survive the toughest conditions you can dream up and come back for more!
Optimus Prime – the greatest Transformer and who could ever forget Matchbox cars
Jet Hopper anyone? Classic RC!
Last seen down the gutter drain on the steet I grew up on!
Sven the stretch doll awesome retro toy
For the iiNet show bag a Pebble watch – wwww.getpebble.com . I like my Rip Curl Ultimate Oceansearch watch as it fits my image but my techie side is curious about the Pebble and don’t think I would buy one but if given one I would be wrapped and then would have to wear it. I think anyone entering this show bag comp likes tech toys and would enjoy this watch with it’s Bluetooth 4.0 it can connect to iPhone and Android smart phones.
A months free access would be nice.
I would like to win a show bag that’s have lots of goodie toys in it because I have never win any thing in my life so far.
Hey iinet I would love to enter this competion but I don’t have a facebook account so how else can i enter???
I think the best Item for the showbag would be an Ipad3
Sadly, I no longer use Facebook can not enter. Other options for us not using FB?
I’d love a Retro Donkey Kong dual screen original Nintendo flip hand held game in the Ultimate Showbag. I haven’t clocked one of those in ages… shows my age doesn’t it?
Generation one digimon tamagotchi. Now that is a retro prize worth entering for. They still are so highly popular and know cost a small fortune to grab from ebay.
Maybe an Accessory Cab-inet and a Portable Table would be nice to win, too.
Yours truly…..
A years supply of Lindt or Cadbury chocolate should really be a must for the showbag. A bit Bertie Beetle – but with an adult twist!
Seeing as the one I had growing up got trashed from overuse I would love to see a complete vintage Lionforce Voltron set
Awww… A GoPRo camera would be the best. If i had one of those strapped to me as a kid, I’d have some filmed some fun playtimes
My dream prize…. I would have to say the new LG 55 full HD Dual Core LED LCD 3D 200Hz TV My wife will never let me get one, imagine having your TV connect to your iinet totally cool.
But my favourite Retro toy would be Voltron remember the cats that joined together to make the big guy? Mum what ever happen to my toy?? I also loved the Batman show bag with the plastic boomerang (batarang) they broke after two or three throws but it was worth it.
I think the coolest retro prize would be an Astro boy figurine!
Apple Mac book air must have and of course Logitech boom box wireless … No more cord yeh
This will be the best by far show bag any kid ( adult) could ask for
Hey were all kids at heart
Throw in a Cadbury block chocolate as well
Awesome idea love the show bag … Thanks
I don’t use “Facetube” and I will never use these inane things so every time I see something locked into these I basically cut my ties with that organisation and their silly fads.
How about a remote control R2-D2 Unit,
a jukebox or an etch a sketch. Not particularly in that order!
You migh have trouble fitting it in the bag but a 55″ LG 3D Full HD LED Smart TV would be the bomb!
Show bag has things from yester year creating memories. Also modern day things to bring new memories.
A nice set of Noise Canceling Head Phones would be a sweet price!
These would go a treat!
The Snowspeeder SNES and Tie Fighter N64.
Course you’d want some games to play on your N64.
A table to put your console on.
A coffee table for all your beverages.
The zero-g coffee cup to look awesome on that coffee table.
Once you’ve finished your adrenalin filled gaming session. You’ll want some quality soap for that shower.
… and just before bedtime. This is essential!
what if I’m not on facebook? FAIL!
What I love most about the iiNet Ultimate Showbag is Oh Technology
You puzzle me these days
you drive me into Circles
You riddle me with your gadgets and advanced ways
How about a commodore 64 PC (Big brother to the Vic 20)…That computer changed my life and made me the geek I am today! Remembering hours typing in lines of code in basic. WOW! and the best games.. polyphonic sound… 64 Kb of memory 8 bit heaven..hahaha those were the days. Apparently they have re-released it with modern specs…I want one iinet (I know you do too 😉 )
Some retro pc games or an emulated box to hook up to the tv with retro games
there was not very much when i was growing up but some chocolate and some fiddle sticks were the go way back then
Hey Louise, what adult doesn’t like a remote controlled toy especially one that interacts with other tech toys like a smart phone? I thought the inexpensive HELO TC App-Controlled Helicopter would be a popular item to add:
http://store.griffintechnology.com/helo-tc-ios-android-toy-helicopter-gc30021
Here’s a toy where iiNet customers can wake up to their favourite iiNet Free Zone Internet radio station:
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/C9886/dick-smith-dock-dab-internet-radio
How about a A Team Van or Mr T action toy now thats Retro !!!
Hmm . . if this is to be a truely-rooly “retro” bag . . then it needs to have . . A RECORD PLAYER . .and at least one of the following LPs – Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, Hot August Night . . just to name a few.
There is so much repo stuff in all price brackets, here are my favourites:
Eames reproduction black – Lounge chair and ottoman anniversary edition http://www.milandirect.com.au This is so cool. Sit back in style while on the net.
Bomba flip clock littleclockshop.com, good design and so reto.
You gotta love the akg k702 repo stereo headphones, for the serious audiophiles. http://www.gearculture.com
Or the repo Crosley cr3010a-bk iduet radio http://www.crosleyradio.com
What about Retro old vinyl record coasters, a rubiks mug, retro 80s kitsch cassette sticky tape dispenser or astronaut ice cream (:
Not everyone uses Facebook (some of us prefer not to live/tweet our lives online) and it’s a pity that a lot of older iiNet members will be excluded from this competition
Best wishes
My first ask for the show bag is to keep up the fantastic work you do. I joined IINET nearly 12 months ago and just recently i had some more problems. The way i have been treated by your crews from Aussie, NZ and Africa offices is just incredible. I doubt if you could find better people to handle your company it has been a pleasure the way they help with the small and big problems i have had.
My only other show bag asking is a new mobile phone the one i have is an original LG flip a few years old now. Just an ordinary phone without all these flash gadgets i don’t need them.
this competition discriminates against people who do not have a facebook account
shame…… shaaaaame
how about som Click Clax, Beautiful Chrissy Doll, The super Flying Nun Doll, or a Gumby oh and a Flatsy Patsie Doll. All from the early 70’s.
Also a great showbag should have a family bowling pass, and family movie ticket oe Luna Park family pass. maybe a pre paid visa card or iinet sim card with a months free credit. As well as a few cheap toys such as a water pistol and a few toys that will break in minutes leaving you in tears, as all good showbags from the 70’s had.
How about a Meccano Set!
I used to have hours of fun with one of these back in the 60-70’s.
I’d also thought about a treadmill but squeezing it into a showbag might be bit hard
Now on the NBN system with iiNET SATILITE just love the Internet and what it offers. Can now use Face book and keep in touch with friends and up to date with products and services. If you make the Show bag big enough you may be able to get a small car in, need a new set of wheels but would setle for a new DSLRcanon camera.
Coolest tech toy ever (for one brief shining moment in 1977 anyway): Texas Instruments . I’m pretty sure all my showbags back then only contained Phantom comics though…
FAKE VOMIT! GREEN OOZY SLIME! FART BAG!
As old as I am, with my 5 Kids, I’d go NERF WARS, so loads of Nerf gear!
Epic.
A Retro toy I would love to come back would be Chrissy, You could make her hair grow by twisting a knob on her back, and by pushing her belly button it would shorten her hair. I did not get much time with her as our family pet dog loved her too and destroyed her…:-(
Retro toys? I would like to see a MINT “The Six Million Dollar Man- The Bionic Man”. It was and is the coolest retro toy EVER. you could look through a hole in the back of the box right through his “Bionic Eye” (1975 figure). Ahhh those were the days 😀
