We’ve got great news for our NBN™ customers – we’ve replaced our Boost plans with Turbo plans at no extra cost!
Our brand new Turbo NBN™ plans are available across NBN™ FTTP, FTTB, FTTN & HFC technologies, with our most popular plan offering unlimited NBN™ data for just $79.99 a month on a no lock-in contract (min charge $159.94).
Turbo NBN™ plans are a great way to start the New Year as they allow more customers to reach the full potential of their NBN™ connections for the same monthly price. Customers whose connections were unable to achieve the speeds that would make upgrading to a MAX plan worthwhile will be please to know that Turbo plans can achieve faster speeds than the Boost plans allowed.
Customers whose connections are more suited to a Boost plan aren’t put at a financial disadvantage, either – our new Turbo plans cost exactly the same as our old Boost plans!
The release of our new plans coincide with new guidelines from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Westnet is among the first Internet Service Providers to follow the ACCC’s guidelines on advertising NBN™ with typical evening speeds. Basically, this is a national measurement of download speeds between 7PM & 11PM, local time.
Please visit our website to see the current evening speeds for Westnet NBN™. You can also use our speed test tool to check your internet speed.
Measuring speeds during this busy period provides a realistic guide because performance issues are most likely to occur when the network is at its busiest. There are a number of factors which can affect NBN™ speeds, so be sure to check out our NBN™ Speeds Explained article for more information.
If you’re getting Westnet NBN™ for the first time, you can select these great new plans when you sign up. If you’re already with us for the NBN™, you can upgrade your plan in MyAccount.
If you’ve pre-ordered one of our old Boost plans, you don’t have to worry about changing plans – we’ll take care of it for you! Keep your eye out for an email over the next fortnight advising that your pre-ordered NBN™ plan has been upgraded to the Turbo plan for exactly the same price.
If you’re ready to go Turbo or keen to find out more about our NBN™ plans, hit the button below or give us a call on 13 19 60 and we’ll be happy to help!
Hi Tony,
It isn’t an automatic change, but you are able to upgrade via the MyWestnet page or by calling through 13 19 60.

I can only achieve basic due to copper wiring at the moment into our village. Will I have to wait for the fibre optic before going any faster?:-)
Thank you
We’d recommend getting in touch with our Support (13 22 58) team to make sure your FTTN service is performing as well as it can, Jeannie. We’re confident they’ll be able to assist!

Are there any plans to upgrade the wireless service from NBN25 in 2018?
We’ll let you know if there are any changes to the NBN Wireless range, Julian!
– Brianna
Last October, I was told my home was ready for connection as an hfc box was installed with a underground cable by nbn and when tested, was ‘live’ and ready for connection.
Now your website no longer tells me ‘ready for connecton’, but says connection cannot be made yet.
Now what?
Hi Heather!
NBN has placed the NBN HFC rollout on hold whilst they work on improvements to the network. In your case, take it as a given that you’ll stay on your current connection until NBN resumes the rollout.
– Leo
I am due to have NBN connected on 06 February on a Boost NBN 50 plan. Do I need to apply to change or will this be automatic since the connection hasn’t been made yet?
Hi Evan,
The switch will be made automatically – Sit tight and we’ll notify you when the service is good to go!
– Brianna
Our nbn will be coming in a few months. We are with westnet but our home phone is with Telstra. Do we have to change one over to the other?
Hey Floss!
It does depend on if you want to keep your landline number or not. If you’re not fussed, then there’s no need to. However, if you have the Telstra phone due to the existence of services like monitored alarms, health issues or elderly persons at home, that requires Priority Assistance, then we do suggest that you discuss this with your phone provider first. Moving the phone to us, will see Priority Assistance services disappear, so have a chat to your phone provider about this first.

In a Retirement Village with wiring and Hardware being installed by Swift Networks.
Advice (at a recent Village Residents meeting) is we must use them as a Service Provider (not Optus, Telstra IINet etc.).
Is this legal (sounds like a restriction of Trade to me)!!?
Hi Mike,
You’ve raised an understandable concern here. As we aren’t in a position to pass a judgement on this, we do recommend having a chat to the operators of your retirement village for more information.
– Leo
Does this apply to those on the nbn fixed wireless service ?
Hi Andrew,
This doesn’t apply to NBN Fixed Wireless, only to NBN Fixed Line connections (FTTN/B, FTTP, NBN HFC).
– Leo
NBN FIXED WIRELESS SUBSCRIBERS ARE BEING SCREWED AGAIN!
THERE IS ANOTHER ISP… “MY REPUBLIC” THAT PROVIDES THE NBN50 PLAN AS ITS STARTING POINT FOR THE WIRELESS NBN AND HAS FAR BETTER CONTRACT CONDITIONS..eg 12 MONTHS VERSES 24 MONTHS PLUS THEY ARE CHEAPER.
I HAVE ADVISED MANY A CUSTOMER TO EITHER SIGN UP OR CHANGE TO THEM WITH A 100% SATISFACTION RATE.
I HAVE FOUND OVER THE YEARS THAT TPG,IINET, WESTNET ARE VERY,VERY SLOW TO CHANGE AND ALSO EXTREMELY SLOW TO UPGRADE THEIR BACK-HAUL LINKS BUT VERY QUICK TO BLAME 3rd PARTIES LIKE THEIR PROVIDERS.
GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO SWITCH ISP’S… I WOULD (15 YEARS WITH WESTNET), HOWEVER THE HASSLE TO CHANGE MY EMAIL ADDRESS PREVENTS ME.
GUESS WHAT,I AM STILL WAITING FOR WESTNET TO REPAIR MY TELEPHONE LANDLINE …NO DIAL TONE FOR A WEEK!
REGARDS JOHN KUS …FORMER TECHNICAL OFFICER WITH TELSTRA FOR 39 YEARS!
Hi John,
Thanks for reaching out to us. We’ve managed to locate your account and can see a fault has been identified and we’re awaiting feedback from Wholesale surrounding a restoration time frame. We’ll be sure to provide further information and updates as available.
– Brianna
We are on the NBN 25 boost plan (since Nov 2016) & occasionally get a speed of 15Mbps, often as low as 5Mbps.Recently we have noticed an improvement that allows us to watch video without issue & speed checks show up to 22 mbps.
Has Westnet/iinet done an upgrade?
Hi Ian,
We’re rolling out the upgrades over a few weeks. An email will be sent to you when your NBN upgrade has been completed, if you’re yet to receive this then your upgrade is still on its way. You can always process this early via your Toolbox: https://toolbox3.iinet.net.au
Let us know how you get on,
– Brianna
I have satellite NBN. Is the turbo available with that?
Hi Darren,
It isn’t available with NBN Satellite plans. We’ll be sure to let you know of any changes to the Satellite range in the future!
– Brianna
Given the fact in our area the current copper network is in abysmal condition and running at around %70 capacity for our street according to the last on the ground Telstra technician who was working on our street what are the chances of the actual line being upgraded? As far as I am concerned given past dealings with Telstra and their contractors the exercise of upgrading NBN is pointless given the reliance on poorly maintained copper once it leaves the fibre. Heres an example, people on the street lose their line because the pits flood when it rains and the copper is badly insulated. The service we currently have from you has very little in the way of problems or speed for that matter. I would be delighted if I have this wrong.
I’m paying the same price for 0.8MB download speeds on ADSL2+ as others pay for high speed internet. How is that fair?
Hi Gus,
Thanks for getting in touch and we’re sorry to hear that your speeds are slow on your ADSL. We absolutely encourage you to complete troubleshooting and we have a very handy guide for this, here:
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/Troubleshooting_ADSL_or_Naked_DSL_Speed_Issues
We’d suggest a couple of basic steps first:
* Isolate the connection down to a single computer, connected to the modem via the ethernet cable.
* Ensure that Wi-Fi on the modem and devices is disabled.
* Have the modem plugged directly into the phone socket in the wall – ensure that all filters, phones and other devices are unplugged from every socket in the house so it only leaves the modem connected.
*Login to the modem and check the speeds shown there.
* If the speed is still slow, turn off the modem and unplug it from the wall. Plug in a phone and listen for noise like crackling, popping or buzzing. If this is present, a line noise fault may need to be lodged.

So if I am already on MAX (NBN100): Typical evening speed 70.8Mbps download but paying for up to 100 and best ever get is 80 with plan restructure do I get a discount being a 10 year customer???
Hi,
Thanks for getting in touch!
You can read about speeds on the NBN, here:
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/node/17104
– Leo
I’d like to know more about what your upload speeds are going to be
It would want to be better than its has as my ADSL was CONSTANTLY faster than I have now and was paying less.
Having trouble with your connection performance, Bart? We’d encourage getting in touch with our Support (13 22 58) team so we can run through some troubleshooting and investigate what may be happening here.
– Brianna
If I upgrade my plan will I have to go on an extended contract? Im pretty sure my contract term is finished.
Good question, Darlene. Upgrading your plan will not impact your contract term – You can complete the upgrade via Toolbox (https://toolbox3.iinet.net.au) or with the assistance of our Sales team on 13 19 17.
– Brianna
Have a satellite on a plan that give us, 45gb during the day 7am to 1am, then 155gb from 1am to 7am. Would like to know when we will be given all of it, instead of being, more at night, when no one is using it.
As we have children at high school it would help, to have the full use of the GB on the plan.
We don’t have a time frame to provide at this stage, Catherine. We will be sure to let you know of any changes to the NBN Satellite range as available!
– Brianna
Will I still have to have a landline when this all goes ahead, and will I need a new modem? And when is it coming to Merredin?
Hi Sandy,
We can see construction has started in the Merredin area and NBN is set to be connected around mid-late this year. We’ll be sure to let you know when the area does go live! When you’re ready to make the switch, you won’t need to keep the landline if you would prefer not to. You may need a new modem, however if you’re looking to sign up for a 24 month contract we’ll supply a modem for you.
Hope this answers your questions – Sing out if there is anything else we can help out with! We want to make the switch as easy as possible for you.
– Brianna
HI I am on 100, so turbo me to 500 🙂 LOL so many games and movies!
when is my connection to nbn to take place. what do I have to do to connect?
regards Roy
I am already on NBN boost which was automatic when changed from the old broadband boost, do I need to contact Westnet to upgrade?
Hi sandy,
You’re always welcome to change plans via the MyWestnet page!
– Leo
How can you advertise a typical evening speed of 42.8Mbps on your 50 Turbo Boost plan, when all I can get is up to 17 Mbps at peak times.
I’ve done all the speed and ping tests for your tech support team, and they tell me all I will get is 18 Mbps max.
That is absolute rubbish.
Hi Robert,
You can find out more about NBN speeds, here:
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/node/17104
In your case, it is well worth having your connection investigated, as your speeds are much less than what we are happy with.
– Leo
As I said before, I have talked to your support team about my speed, and all they said was the maximum I will get on my Turbo Boost plan is no more than 18Mbps downloads.
Please can you investigate as Iam also not happy with that slow speed.
Hi Robert,
We’ve managed to locate your account and have asked that a Representative is in touch (via the contact number listed on the account) to investigate this further for you. Speak soon!
– Brianna
After 14 years I have had enough of your degrading service, slow speeds and paying for business 100 plan and not getting past 42mb at anytime. I was happy with approx 60mb but this has got ridiculous ! How the hell do I get onto the ACCC bandwagon. Can you please tell me that ? I called your tech support today, was told I was to be put through to business service to speak with Brandon. Phone was cut off instantly with non return call or message. The wheels have come off your bus and at $120 / month plus hosting and 4 mobiles I an gone.
Hi James,
This is very concerning to hear as we do expect your connection to be working much better.
You are able to downgrade to the NBN50 tier at no cost but more importantly, we want to know why your speed has degraded! We can complete troubleshooting to resolve this or fault your service with NBN. If you haven’t been able to speak to staff, please feel free to e-mail myself directly: leo.yarnold@corporate.iinet.net.au and we can arrange contact from our Business Team.
– Leo
On the Turbo plans what are the upload speeds? Seems ISP’s are all about download averages when there is a lot of us that utilise our systems for live broadcasting, interactive media etc.
Hi Remus,
Upload speeds are in line with the NBN’s wholesale guidance as per each speed tier. You can find out more about NBN speeds, here:
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/node/17104
– Leo
To whom it may concern ,
im not happy with the way im currently being switched over to nbn i have called support several times regarding my issues and one operator tells you one thing and the next one says something completely different i have been with westnet for over 10 years and never experienced as many problems as i have now!! Could someone from billing and support please contact me
Thankyou
Hi Wayne!
This isn’t the experience you should be having. NBN changeovers shouldn’t be difficult but there can be some issues that pop up on occasion. We can arrange for our team to get in touch to take ownership, so please send your details to: iionline@iinet.net.au and we’ll do our best to smooth this out.
– Leo
I was on the Turbo Boost deal for $79 per month but was advised by iiNet that they were not able to deliver the speed I was paying for. SO I decided to swap to the $69 per month deal.
I was treated fairly and received a credit on the first months invoices I paid. I’m not complaing about this.
However, I would like to know when iiNet anticipate that the boosted speed will be available for Ferndale WA because I really want the higher speed. Thus far I have nnot been able to find any information on this from either the iiNet site or the NBN site. This leads to frustration.
I hope you can advise what is in actual fact happening and when it will be corrected.
regards
Richard
Hi Richard,
This is a very interesting question!
In these cases, it comes down to what NBN does with the network in your area – whether they choose to upgrade it or change it to a different connection type from the one you currently have now, or leave it as it is. Sadly, we aren’t privy to this information, so all we can offer is the NBN Rollout Map, available here:
https://www1.nbnco.com.au/residential/learn/rollout-map.html
– Leo
Is it automatic, or do I have to ask?.
